Some places, chefs and restaurateurs zealously guard the flame of the classic French repertoire and they are rightly rewarded with the greatest plaudits and highest accolades. L’Envol is one such place. What haute couture is to fashion this is to culinary art, but the creativity and skill that surrounds the whole experience is still a glory to behold.
Against an impressive but charming backdrop of marble, wood, stone and soft ecru tones, settle into the upholstered opulence of some very comfy chairs and indulge in a menu packed with dishes that will blow you away, courtesy of chef Olivier Elzer (ex L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon) and his team.
Chilled French green pea cream and mint soup with smoked burrata ice cream, Brittany blue lobster with hazelnut butter, razor clams with caviar, all cooked and presented to perfection. Popular mains include seared A3 Kagoshima beef tenderloin with pommes soufflées and truffle sauce, or firm but fleshy turbot, all rounded off with, say, strawberry tart with tarragon cream & strawberry sorbet
