Celestial Court has culled out a reputation for first-class lunchtime dim sum, and naysayers are hard to find. Don’t miss the unimpeachable shrimp dumplings, which are available all day, and the extensive range of tea. That said there’s plenty to recommend an evening visit, too, when seasonally changing menus are long on great seafood, a range of meat dishes and vegetables that are top drawer – the baked stiffed chicken with black truffle and duck liver is particularly recommended, likewise the mushroom dishes in the cooler months, which also come in for rave reviews.
Located on the second floor or the Sheraton, the restaurant is decked out in burlwood panels and raw silk wall coverings and is certainly spacious, but it’s not the most vibrant and we would tend to agree with those who believe it would benefit from a style makeover. Perhaps this would help draw a larger crowd, too, as the quality of the food deserves a wider audience.
