The now-defunct Catalunya has transmogrified into the more progressive and exciting La Rambla by Catalunya. Spanning a giant, energetic space within the IFC mall, La Rambla is appropriately named, with velvet green booths, rattan chairs and a moodily lit tree combining to create an attractively informal space. Meanwhile he outdoor terrace showcases plenty of bar seating that's perfect for sundowners with tapas bites.
Start with tapas-style tomato tartare, escargots or mackarel and smoked burrata. Favourites from the sea might include grilled squid, josper-grilled prawns or a seafood platter, while signature meat dishes include roast chicken, slow cooked lamb shoulder or suckling pig with spinach. Paella is popular too – be it seafood, red prawn and squid ink or vegetarian versions – while baked brie cheesecake and fresh wild berry jam is aimed squarely at those that like a sweet finish.
But it's the views of Victoria Harbour which really turn the heads, as does the G&T cart – Hendricks or Monkey 47, anyone? If you're looking for wine there's cava, Sileni Sauvignon Blanc or a Tempranillo-Cabernet Sauvignon blend, all served by the glass.
