With its burgundy leather seating, cleverly sectioned off, and smoother-than-butter brigade of tuxedoed waiters dispensing trays of ever-delicious drinks, there’s an air of effortless class about The Captain’s Bar. This Hong Kong institution, of course, pours a mean martini but it is also famed for dispensing draught beer in silver tankards alongside glasses of perfectly chilled fizz. For snacks, there’s the likes of lamb samosa with mint yoghurt and mango chutney or tandoori spiced chicken wings with sweet chilli dip while, from noon til 2.30pm you can avail yourself of bangers and mash, shephard’s pie or a tiffin lunch to see you through the afternoon. Jazz and blues are played live, Tuesday to Saturday evenings.
